BREAKFAST ON BROAD TO BE HELD MARCH 14
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce will be holding its next “Breakfast on Broad” on March 14 from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Come enjoy a delicious breakfast and networking opportunities with other business leaders at The Foundry on South Broad Street. This month’s event is sponsored by Veterans Enforcers Motorcycle Association.
QUALIFYING TO BE HELD THIS WEEK FOR LOCAL ELECTIONS
Anyone wishing to run for local elections in 2024 should qualify this week. Citizens wishing to quality for nonpartisan offices or Democratic candidates may do so while any Republicans wishing to qualify may do so at 1108 N. Broad Street, in the offices of Hester Insurance. Up for grabs this year will be the countywide offices of sheriff, clerk of court, probate judge, chief magistrate, tax commissioner and coroner, along with county commission and school board seats in districts, 1, 3 and 4. For information about the qualifying fees, contact the Probate Court.
BENEFIT FOR MIZPAH CEMETERY FUND IS THIS SATURDAY
The 49th Annual Pilau Benefit for the Mizpah Cemetery Fund will be held this Saturday, March 9th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fundraiser will be held at Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church on Mizpah Church Road, just off GA Hwy. 112. The cost is $5 donation per plate. Carry and dine-in will be available.
COUNTRY LEGENDS AND GOSPEL SHOW AT ZEBULON THIS WEEKEND
The Zebulon Theater in Downtown Cairo will be hosting two great live shows this weekend. On Saturday night at 7 p.m. will be the Country Legends Show; on Sunday, March 10, will be a Southern Gospel Show featuring Jordan Poole. Tickets are $40 for both shows or $25 each and can be purchased by calling 378-7405.
STORYTIME AT LIBRARY
The Roddenbery Memorial Library reminds all parents and caregivers that the regular storytime is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s flex space. This activity is perfect for children ages 2 to 8 years old.
VEMA TO HOST GOLF TOURNAMENT ON APRIL 6
The Veteran Enforcers Motorcycle Association (VEMA) will be hosting a golf tournament at the Tired Creek Golf Course on April 6 to honor one of our local heroes, Wandell Asbell, a member of the Cairo Police Department. The four-man scramble tournament will begin with a 1:30 p.m. tee time and cash prices for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. For more information, email mharrisonfire@gmail.com.
ST. PATRICKS DAY EVENT COMING TO DOWNTOWN CAIRO
The Carousel Sports Bar and Cairo Main Street will be presenting ‘St. Patrick’s Day on Main’ on March 16. There will be several performers during the evening including the Steve Walden Band. Everyone is invited to attend.
POLLING PLACE BEING RELOCATED
Denise Maddox, Superintendent of Elections for Grady County, has announced that there will be a change in the polling location for voters who previously voted at the Pine Park Volunteer Fire Department. The new polling location will be the fellowship hall at Pine Park Baptist Church. New precinct cards will be mailed to the voters affected.

If you’re interested in genealogy, the Roddenbery Memorial Library has a fantastic volunteer, Sara Jane Cannon, available every Monday and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. in the Genealogy Room. She can help you with your research and answer any questions.
NEW ART & EXERCISE CLASS AT LIBRARY
The Roddenbery Memorial Library has introduced a new Art & Exercise Class for seniors every Monday from 9 a.m.-noon with the exercise classes only on Thursday from 9-10 a.m. Both classes take place in the Grady Room of the library.
